Shocked to be in my 83rd year. Lifelong blue voter, though I don't post or comment about politics, just cats, nature, photos, gardens, food. Buddhist, lapsed meditator, but still trying (often failing) to live the teachings of the Dhamma. Go Ducks!
Happy Veteran's Day to my dad, who served from WWII through part of Viet Nam, and my maternal grandfather who served WWI with his horse, Chuffy. And to all my ancestors who served but don't have photos.

@goodport.bsky.social OPB's 'Oregon Experience' focused on Sam Hill last night. Mostly his road building (Columbia Gorge, Pacific Coast, and more), but also touched on Maryhill and finished with a segment on the museum. I don't know if you have a way to look at this, but I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

One more -- the phone would never have captured the moon and planet (Venus?). The camera would not capture the pale pink of sunrise on the second photo, or at least it didn't show on screen and I didn't take a shot. Neither photo is particularly good, but I'm learning what both cameras will do.

Another morning of camera experiments. In this light the iPhone [left photos] did the best job with both subjects. I went out a bit earlier, thus darker, than previously with the camera and it didn't do too well. Perhaps when I learn more about adjustments.

Foggy walk around the ponds this morning. Camera still doing a good job, despite me not refining settings any further. I'm a total idiot when it comes to digital cameras, so I need idiot-proof instructions for the next steps. I didn't have time yesterday nor energy this morning.

Apparently I forgot I had an actual camera until this morning. More likely, I was happy playing with the new phone. I experimented with settings and took the camera for a test in the early light. Much truer to life than the phone, exposure-wise (see last two).

I passed this Aminita village during my wandering yesterday morning. Tons of them, all along the sidewalk. #FungiFriday

Another day another sleepy Spencer. He’s stretched and wiggled a dozen times since I snapped this, but he’s happy. #FelineFriday

Shadows against the side of the fire station next door. The red is from the traffic light on the corner. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekSforShadows

Good morning! He's wary of the phone, but a much happier boy this morning. Whew! Life is so much easier when the cat is happy.

New toy for bored Mr. Spencer. I think he likes it. From the people who make his forever favorite toy mice. Bigger than I expected but he doesn’t seem to care.

One of my old favorite trails here in Eugene, one that I want to try again soon. It looks easy here, but then it goes uphill, all the way. I'm an early morning hiker, so there are typically shadows everywhere I go. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekSforShadows

Spencer has a new way of 'cuddling' with me in the mornings. Not a cuddle at all, more a sprawl that is dangerous, depending upon what keys he manages to hit on the keyboard. Happy #TabbyTuesday, and election day for those who have them.

Early morning walk down our side street. Despite my best efforts I cannot get the phone cam to not lighten the sky too much and still get any detail on the trees. This was before daylight, so all light is from artificial sources.

I'm sure this has been previously posted, but since it fits the category.... This is a nearby foot/bicycle bridge over the far end of the Ponds. Shadows are epic there in early mornings. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekSforShadows

Foggy walk around the ponds this morning. Everything looks a bit golden, with the soft light and yellow leaves.

The blossoms are wilting now, but it was glorious while it lasted. Each blossom is 2.5 inches long. It amazes me every year.

Upriver from Gold Beach, OR, about as far upriver as one can continue on the Rogue without walking or a boat. About 35 miles, near Agness. I was exploring on a nice #Autumn day, 2009. #BlueSkyArtShow

My desk is an unholy mess this morning, but old Grumpy Face doesn't seem to mind. He has now squirmed and stretched across that arm, the one that I'm trying to type with. Happy #Caturday !

Another foggy morning, another walk. This time, along the Willamette River in my neighborhood.

This cat is really too uptight. How can I loosen him up, I wonder.

A couple more from this morning that didn't make the first post. This raised, wooden walkway leads to an isolated viewpoint that shows more of the ponds than any other, but doesn't make for the best photos. That's water beyond the first photo, and the main trail at the end of the second.

Foggy morning! I went out at bare daybreak, though the camera made it look later and lighter than that.
