So it turns out having the right tools absolutely makes a difference in getting me to draw. The pen has to feel right in the hand.

These are some weekend sketchbook he’s of found fallen Marri and Jarrah leaves rendered in an H pencil initially then in black ballpoint ink.

I would like the power to stop going out just to get me to go to bed.

This is the second time recebo this has happened. Power goes out. I go to bed. Power comes back on

It turns out drawing with a new black ballpoint is much more effective than trying to use an old one.

Does anyone have days where they find it impossible to get anything done? I'm having one of those. It's sunny outside and not hot sear your skin off the moment you go outside sunny. But a nice I can spend time outside sunny and it's making it impossible to want to do anything.

You know your house is a safe place when a huntsman spider decides your kitchen is the perfect place to shed its skin and then hang out for a while afterwards.

The pronoun labeler, which was by far the most useful labeler on the site, was deleted by its creator. But thanks to @ripperoni.com there’s a new one available. I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to share your pronouns or see someone else’s pronouns at a glance.

I'm at the point of writing this short story where I am very sure it sucks. But I also know that I need to finish it, then I can fix it.

Writing and shuffling tarot cards while I think, so of course they're getting impatient and jumping out at me.

I have one particular tarot deck that likes to tell me to chill out, not by showing me the 4 of swords, but by showing me The Hanged Man.

One pattern translated from German to English and modifications made so I can CO Knithanger by Tanja Even.

I've knit this one before. Translated it before, but didn't keep my notes. This time I typed them up so I've got them for next time.

Take a moment to imagine the day when "America" means a vast expanse of open borders and free, thriving peoples from the Arctic Circle to Tierra Del Fuego.

This.

Part of the fun of learning something new are the mistakes. It’s how you learn and improve if you put in the work.

Keep going Keep trying. So the damn work.
I don't know what to tell you. You can't sit at a piano for the first time ever and play a sonata. You can't pick up a tennis racket for the first time and serve a 110MPH Ace.

You have to fuck up.

You have to be able to handle failing.

You have to love it enough to not get it right and keep on.

Want to see some pretty yarn?

This is Petit Poison 5 dark on Rohrspatz & Wollmeise’s Lacegarn.

It’s a heavy weight lace and comes in a 300g. It’s one of my favourite yarns and it comes in an incredible range of colours.

I have found yarn (I stash dived) and a pattern to knit!

Knithanger by Tanja Even in Wollemise Lacegarn PP5 dark.

I still need to translate the pattern from German to English but I’ve done this before with patterns and I understand how this style of shawl works.

Somehow I have managed to condense my three paragraph pitch into one AND it makes sense and works.

This is the thing about querying. You can't just do one set format for all agents. You need all the little bits and inevitably you find something you haven't done.

I have let the kitten out to play in the cat run (a safe enclosed area) because she has decided anything she can find on my desk is her chew toy.

So. When your tarot cards say to (essentially) chill out, they mean to go sit in the air conditioning, yes?

Today's query challenge: condensing my three paragraph pitch into one.

I've done these when I was studying scriptwriting, so I know what to do, it's just irritating to have to do it for a single agent.

But, at least I'll have it if the need pops up again.

Final clue: This person once encouraged billionaires to use their money for good and to give it away.

Who do you think this nose belongs to?

How's everyone in Perth surviving this heat?

42C in Perth hills today.

And I have a cat camped out in a bucket.

Final nose of the batch I have drawn and painted.

Who do you think this nose belongs to?

First clue: they’re an Oscar and Grammy award winning person.

Second clue: they were nominated as Billboard’s Woman of the Year.

Tell me who you think this is.

The final knitting project I started last year has been frogged and the yarn put away.

Why?

Because it was like knitting with sewing thread and impossible to repair mistakes. And I just didn’t like it, nor would I wear the FO.

It was this:
