Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.

Major steps forward are always called disruptive or untimely. Progress that serves the public disrupts systems built on silence.

Today - and every day - we’re fighting the good fight on behalf of the people: evidence over power, justice over silence.

Philadelphia showed up on MLK Jr. Day.
From the Immigration Court at 9th & Market to ICE’s field office, the city marched in defiance: against ICE raids, against state violence, against the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis.
Dr. King taught us: justice requires action. Philly answered.

I would have fired Brandon Beane before McDermott.

I feel like McDermott did his job a helluva lot better than Beane did.

And wasn't an asshole doing it.

Beane is an arrogant asshole.

Go Bills.

Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.

He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

Buttigieg: Some say you can’t talk about any of the things that were wrong about America because that must mean you hate America. To me, anytime we talk about something that wrong, it’s because some of the finest moments that brought out the greatest character of this country is how we put it right.

Part of me wishes Canada would say “Hey, the U.S. has oil, minerals & Alaska would be happy if we adopted them, gave them universal healthcare and apologetic kindness.” Then I think about how many Canadian companies are drilling & mining our resources & polluting our lands. We’re fucked regardless.

Not allowing Americans voting rights is bs. I don’t care if they were born in a Territory, if they live here, they should be granted citizenship without qualm if they choose. Let’s hope the appellate court has some sense, and our fuckstick governor is replaced by someone who’ll drop this nonsense.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Why is anyone surprised Trump is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act. He has been telling us for months he would absolutely put the military on the streets.

When he tells you he wants to do something diabolical take him at his word.

It’s the only time he isn’t lying.
