I'm white, starting the game by moving on 1-D4.

Here's the way I normally work: a simple b&w sketch followed by several rough color keys. I want to have an idea for most elements I'll be painting but keep space for improvisation—the perception of the painting changes when standing in front of the actual wall, and often demands adjustments.
