Yesterday we learned about the Scottish scientists Alexander Fleming and how he accidentally discovered the antibiotic penicillin 🦠 🧫 We swabbed different areas of the classroom and are going to observe the amount of bacteria that grows in our samples.

Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd Socks Day 2025 is taking place on Monday 10th November. Children can wear odd socks to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! There is no cost to take part in this.

And lastly we enjoyed chopping up our own fruit using the bridge technique to assemble our own yogurt cups! We finished today with the lovely news that we were assembly class of the week again and had an extra playtime! 🍓🥏🏓

Next we started our new topic about significant individuals in science and technology by learning about Isaac Newton and how he discovered gravity! We then learned about “drag” and made parachutes to try slow down the speed our cups would be pulled down to the ground! 🪂

Then it was Halloween time 🎃 We wrote spooky Halloween poems and showed off our costumes! To finish the day we had a party and went dooking for apples 🍎

We have been learning to tile with 2D shapes! We practiced fitting the shapes together with no gaps or overlaps. Then we learned the fancy name for this is tessellation! 🤩🔸🔻🔹

On Friday, we won class of the week at assembly! We decided to take our reward of an extra playtime during the sunshine this afternoon! And of course many of us chose to go to the mugga and play football 😄 ⚽️ ☀️ 🏆

Last week we had a Hallglen Superstar! 🌟 A has been working so hard in class and always gives 100% effort. She is kind, helpful and tries her best to support her peers. Well done, A!

On Friday we put our knowledge of 3D objects to the test. We created skeletons by identifying the 2D faces we could see and used different construction materials to put them together. We practiced using the terms faces, edges and vertices! 😄
