Minorities in Shark Sciences
@misselasmo.bsky.social
Founded by four Black female shark researchers seeking to promote diversity and inclusion in shark research. 🦈
This week, our communications coordinator, Naissa, was inspired by the sunshine and the ocean in Southern California. In the middle of winter, the warmth of the sun is very much appreciated! ☀️ 🌴

This week, MISS President and CEO Jasmin Graham was inspired by THE SHARK LADY! There is magnificent effort, commitment and dedication in putting together something like this. The team behind The Shark Lady worked very hard and that hard work absolutely paid off. 🦈 💙

Science is for EVERYBODY and we have made it our MISSion to prove that. One adventure on a boat or even time in a lab can help a student learn if they truly love the field & want to turn it into their career! 💙 Click the link below to help us meet our goal!

Did you know that your contribution to the Shark-a-Thon today will help fund next year's programs like our summer camp? Last year our campers went kayaking, learned shark anatomy and built their very own ROV's! 🦈 #givingtuesday

Today on #GivingTuesday, your support helps us continue opening doors, creating access, and making marine science a place where everyone belongs.

Every gift—big or small—helps us change the face of ocean science. 🌊💙

An ocean without sharks is nothing short of spooky. Without them, marine life dwindles, coral reefs collapse, and species vanish. Let's keep advocating for education, protection and conservation of these resilient animals to make sure that our oceans don't become a horror movie w/o them. 🦈

We are so grateful to Gulf Coast Community Foundation for their generous contribution that will be used for MISS Camps! 🦈

The grant will allow us to continue providing educational opportunities and experiences to students this coming summer. Thank you! 💙

Curiosity is our best friend & we mean that. 💙

Feedback from parents means a lot to us because it means that our campers had fun. Every contribution to MISS goes towards our summer camps, spring break camps, research trips, classroom visits and so much more.
