coming back to explain better—imo what makes these so tender/intimate are the character’s focus and their touch. Notice how they’re either looking directly at each other, or focusing on where they’re touching (hands or face). It gives the impression that they’re taking pleasure in that closeness!

as for posing couples... whenever i see art or photography where i like the posing, i save it! i've found that a lot of illustrations from the 1900s depict tenderness really well, such as the below images that i've pilfered from an old tweet. I think one really big thing to focus on is...

Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone.

I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.
