44,000 Toronto Bikeshare trips in one day.

The system costs about $14-million net to run; a major expansion will be $20-million.

Well, that was fast. The daily trip record for Bike Share Toronto was just smashed yesterday as 44,000 trips were recorded. Bikes were free yesterday in a promotion with Tangerine Bank.

“Infrastructure isn’t judged by seasonal peaks but by the benefits it delivers.” Well said!

Highways aren’t judged by seasonal usage or even consistent underuse (e.g., Hwy 407), but bike lanes always are.

The Province’s decision to remove bike lanes in Toronto to alleviate congestion is entirely misguided, akin to dismissing lifeguards to reduce pool crowding… 6 cyclists have already lost their lives in Toronto in 2024, and this move will only exacerbate the situation.
