“There are rivers in the sky” by Elif Shafak 💙

Brilliant interweaving of stories; ancients stories, stories about water, stories about how the ancient stories came to us and devastating stories about Mesopotamia in the 21st century 💙

Brilliant analysis and very clarifying perspectives on our recent (violent) histories and how they have been distorted to enable new forms of oppression. 🍉

Binge-reading Octavia Butler’s ‘Lilith’s Brood’ trilogy - she glues you to the story and shake you to the core, and before you know it you are somehow rooting for aliens that want to take human genes. Miraculous writing!

Sujuy Ja’ - Agua Sagrada performance last month in the Mayan village Maní with the amazing Socorro Loeza Flores.

In 1562 the Spanish burned Mayan books in the convent of Maní, destroying a lot of indigenous knowledge. In 2009, finally, the Franciscan brothers of the convent apologized.
