The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to a strong woman of color from Venezuela whom Maduro has forced into hiding because she is working to end his dictatorship and bring in democracy. Could the committee have checked more boxes of things Trump hates?

When is the last time Trump went golfing?

What if Donald Trump is right about going to Russia on Friday? He meets Putin in Alaska as scheduled, and they leave together on Putin’s plane for Moscow.

Barack Obama Appreciation Day +1 (I was at a wedding yesterday). President Obama stopped in rural Henry County, Ill., while campaigning for re-election in 2012. As a weekly newspaper editor, I snagged White House press credentials.

Barack Obama Appreciation Day +1 (I was at a wedding yesterday). When he was a U.S. Senator, Barack Obama spoke at the Illinois Press Association's annual awards dinner. Afterwards, I took these photos of him speaking to reporters.

Does anyone know the plans for removing the tanks from Washington, D.C., following Saturday's parade? They are leaving, aren't they?

When my son and his fiancée took me to Boston last fall, #1 on my list was visiting the USS Constitution. While we were on board the Navy's oldest ship, the newest ship, USS Nantucket, docked astern of Constitution. @allie6179.bsky.social

Launched in 1797, Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat anywhere in the world. Constitution is the only warship ever to carry the name on the U.S. Navy list.

May the ship Constitution forever remind Americans of our rights and responsibilities as free people. 2/

How highly did President George Washington regard the U.S. Constitution?

In 1794 Congress approved constructing six frigates to be the muscle of the Navy. Secretary of War Timothy Pickering submitted a list of 10 names for the ships to Washington.

Washington chose Constitution from the list. 1/

My son and his fiancee took me to Boston last November over Veterans Day weekend, and we saw this display titled Flags for the Fallen on Northern Avenue in Seaport. I don't know if the flags were set out today on Memorial Day, but it did seem appropriate to share the photo. @allie6179.bsky.social

The American Revolution were fired at Lexington and Concord, Mass., on April 19, 1775. Before the bloodshed came Paul Revere's midnight ride, 250 years ago today.

Last fall I toured Old North Church with the famous steeple where signal lanterns were hung to indicate British troop movements.

Goodnight friends ♥️ Our hearts are with all of us at HHS who receive bad news tomorrow. And all those at health departments across the country who received bad news this week. Call us cheesy, but Lord of the Rings is on our minds.

I know many of you are freaked out about our country, but I have a bigger problem-there’s a rip in the space/time continuum and a wormhole is developing in my bathroom closet. It’s the only explanation for the appearance of this sock with my towels. 1/

Jan. 20 is both inauguration day and MLK Day. If you are boycotting inauguration coverage, please consider a day of community service. Contact community centers, colleges, pre-K through 12 schools, animal shelters, food pantries, health care offices, worship centers, parks, etc., for ideas.
