As a solo dev my stance on certain indie studios using genAI in the drafting and placeholder process is thus - I believe in specificity in design and I will always have a very clear idea of what I want to put on the page that simply can't be captured sufficiently by genAI tools

Bonus point detached from the main thread, I also think the "reject modernity return to The Nineties narrative is a mistake that would only serve to make the franchise look outdated, if sonic team want to do something new, it has to be truly new

okay i know i said i wasnt going to touch the crossworlds thing with a ten foot pole but i do think it's interesting whenever a sonic game loses an award sonictwt doubles down on being really critical towards the franchise like it's current state of existence is the most embarrassing thing ever

It’s time for my unsolicited game awards opinions! I think the game awards are anti-art and an investor expo simply cosplaying as an awards show with the most childish concept of an awards show jury process I think I’ve ever seen - that being said, I watch it every year to atone for my sins

This probably isnt the correct forum for this but I've become very disillusioned with the online entertainment space and the direction the community as a whole seems to be going.
So many people with no PR skills or self-awareness have hateful mobs of fanbases who's behaviour goes entirely unchecked

Tbh I think it’s pretty obvious why Nintendo pivoted towards a design-oriented play style for animal crossing new horizons given how the animal crossing new leaf community evolved and what was generally prioritised by players at that point - particularly wrt the way save editing tools were used

I think it’s really weird that so many negative user reviews of pokemon legends za start with valid, if overblown, criticism but always end up going on a massive racist rant towards jacinthe at some point like I’m SO sorry the pretty black lady made the game unplayable for you

I find it interesting that a lot of gamers have objections to the idea of friction being intentional game design - the most pertinent example for me at the moment is probably Silksong, but animal crossing is another example that comes to mind.

There's an undercurrent that I'm picking up on in silksong so far (about half way through Act 2) of the violence women specifically face under theocracy that I'm really fascinated by, I'll hold off on making any concrete statements until I'm done but there's definitely something there.

My takeaway from the open network test is that Sonic Racing Crossworlds and Mario Kart World are different enough that I don’t feel like direct comparisons are particularly fruitful - and I imagine from what I’ve seen I’m going to maintain this opinion with Air Riders too.

The characterisation of everyone featured in Crossworlds has me giggling and kicking my feet btw, everyone is written exactly how I would like them to be and some of the dialogue between certain characters has me hopeful they will be utilised more in future games.

I think putting a mod for a Nintendo game behind a paywall is flying dangerously close to the sun but I also think leaking the mod because you don’t want to pay for it is scummy behaviour that shouldn’t be normalised
