The TPA has already demonstrated hostility to a review before it started. They represent the rank & file, the “good apples” as they say. This can be viewed as an indication of how the “good” will cooperate with any review or investigation.

Rachel Homan delivers another spectacular shot.

This is not a recording.

She’s going to have her own highlight reel from this game.

Important from @shawnmicallef.bsky.social

"Some, including Premier Doug Ford, have used variations of the “just a few bad apples” bromide. To extend this tired metaphor, if the rest of the apples appear hostile to an investigation, what should the public think about the whole bushel? Rot spreads."
In the Toronto Star I write about Toronto Police's violent corruption scandal. Will it move the needle on police reform? It's a dramatic escalation in a long history of police intimidation, bullying their critics & broken trust. I argue 3 big things have to happen, including firing this chief.

I think that call in the curling is fine, but it illustrates how hard it is as a player to tell if you double touch

Excellent episode of The Hatchet with @arshy.bsky.social. The recent police scandal is not “a few bad apples,” the Toronto Police have been operating like organized crime for generations. They act with impunity, refuse reform, and target and punish their critics: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/t...

Great Britain defeats Canada 7-6.

Rebecca Morrison was sensational in the win, coupled with too many Canadian misses.

Homan and company drop to 1-2 to start the Olympics with Switzerland coming up later tonight.

World Curling has sent me this statement regarding the incidents and allegations of Canadian cheating from last night’s game against Sweden.

Umpires were brought in after Sweden flagged the issue of second touches of the stone, specifically the granite.

Here is the statement:

One of the many things we are going to need to be is as much of a lifeline to the people in this hemisphere who get fucked over by the US. Especially smaller nations like Cuba.
Mark Carney said that Canada is "considering" sending aid to Cuba.

Before COVID, one million Canadians visited Cuba every year. Their convertavle peso is pegged to the Canadian Dollar. I argue that we need to send fuel and supplies ASAP, regardless of Trump.

I always say this—if any data or footage is collected anywhere, eventually police will come asking for it or someone will figure out a way to sell them access to it. This is also true of ICE.
Police departments across the US are quietly leveraging school district security cameras to assist Donald Trump’s mass immigration enforcement campaign, an investigation by @the74.bsky.social reveals.
