Day 2 of the Birdquest Southern Australia & Tasmania tour starred Superb Lyrebird. One of the most ancient song birds. Watching it digging under the tree ferns of the rainforest in Dandenong Ranges NP was like time travel. #birding #australia #dandenongs #lyrebird #superblyrebird #birdingtours

It was nice to start with a pair of owls on day 1 of the 2024 Birdquest Southern Australia & Tasmania tour. The giant boobook Powerful Owl glared down at us from a lofty perch in a park in Melbourne and the diminutive Tasmanian Boobook obliged for the cameras after dark on the coast.
