Vancouver city councillor, husband, dad, gardener, fitness enthusiast, optimist, podcaster. I ❤️ #cities
Attended AME Roundup 2026 with Councillors Lenny Zhou & Lisa Dominato—who delivered a fantastic opening on behalf of the City.

The theme, Minerals for a Changing World, highlights how responsible exploration supports climate goals, economic growth, and strong communities.

Great conversations! ⚒️🌍

Vancouver recognizes January 29th as the Day of Remembrance and Action Against Islamophobia.
We honour the victims of the Quebec City Mosque attack and stand in solidarity with our Muslim communities.

A safer, more respectful city is our shared responsibility.

That’s a wrap on a 13-hour work day. Really pleased about Council’s unanimous decision tonight in support of hundreds of rental homes 400 metres from the Olympic Village Canada Line station, plus a $5.5 million contribution. Proud of our @Vote4ABC team & thankful to everyone who works at the City.

Vancouver marks January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

We remember the six million Jewish lives lost and stand united against rising antisemitism.

Our commitment: safeguard every community member and work toward a future rooted in dignity and respect.

🎶 Big win for Vancouver’s music heritage. The iconic Mushroom Studio sign has been saved and will be restored by the Museum of Vancouver.

Huge 🙏 to Valerie Biggin for championing this & to Squire Barnes for keeping the story alive. Proud to support projects that honour what makes Vancouver unique.✨

Thrilled to see the iconic Mushroom Studios sign saved and heading to the Museum of Vancouver.

Huge thanks to Valerie Biggin for championing this effort. The studio helped shape Canadian music for decades.

Proud to help preserve this piece of Vancouver’s cultural history.

🎓 I had the pleasure of joining fellow UBC alumni at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs for a panel discussion moderated by Professor Max Cameron on the path from campus to public office.

Our dialogue focused on how UBC students can envision themselves as future civic leaders.

A busy week ahead at Vancouver City Council.

From public washroom access and arts funding, to housing, childcare, and downtown planning — here’s a quick look at what’s coming up and why it matters.

🎥 Watch for a 60-second rundown.

More childcare spaces are opening across Vancouver — including a former duplex now home to 32 new spaces.

Thanks to updated regulations led by Councillor Lisa Dominato and supported by council, residential‑based childcare is becoming easier to build where families need it most. More progress ahead!

📉 Housing + rents down
📉 Crime down
📉 Overdose deaths down

These improvements come from the same data sources critics have cited for years—and they show ABC Vancouver’s policies are working. And while it takes time for perceptions to shift, the numbers tell a clear story: progress is happening.

🇵🇭✨ Mabuhay! Honoured to join Vancouver’s Filipino community for the Filipino Cultural Centre site unveiling. Huge thanks to the Filipino Legacy Society for leading this vision. Proud to stand with MLA Mable Elmore and Councillor Sarah Kirby‑Yung in support.

Wrapping up 2025 with gratitude and optimism. Council focused on affordability, safety, and local jobs.

2026 will be a big year for Vancouver as we host seven matches of the FIFA World Cup and welcome global events like Web Summit.

Honoured to serve the people of Vancouver.

I supported the DTES Housing Plan because doing nothing wasn’t neutral. Aging buildings have continued to deteriorate while replacement stalled. This plan enables SRO replacement, strengthens tenant protections, and creates real pathways toward safer, more livable homes in the Downtown Eastside.

Tonight we joined Vancouver’s Jewish community for the Silber Family Agam Menorah lighting. Amid the heartbreaking violence in Sydney, this ceremony reminded us that #Hanukkah’s light is stronger than hate.

Grateful to the Silber family and Chabad Lubavitch BC for bringing us together in unity. 🕯️

On the eve of Hanukkah, we mourn the devastating act of terror at Bondi Beach that claimed innocent lives and targeted a community in celebration. Vancouver stands in solidarity with our Jewish neighbours against antisemitism. May the lights of Hanukkah shine ever brighter in the face of darkness. 🕯️

Today Council unanimously supported my amendment in today’s budget deliberations. We’ve reallocated $800,000 from the City’s existing budget to make sure Community Centre recreation fees stay at 0% increase in 2026. This means admission, passes, lessons, programs, and permits remain affordable.

It’s Remembrance Day in Canada. I will be attending ceremonies in several communities today on behalf of the City of Vancouver. Please take a moment to reflect upon the sacrifices of so many for the freedoms we enjoy today. #LestWeForget

Hard hat day at Brightside Homes’ Sunrise Village — a new affordable housing project at Renfrew & Venables for all ages. 👷‍♂️🏗️ Built to Passive House standards toward net-zero, it’s a model for sustainable, inclusive housing in #Vancouver. 🌇🌱 #AffordableHousing

A disappointing council vote last week stopped us from creating a Vancouver-owned housing corporation — a lost chance to build homes for working people. Councillors slammed the door on 4,000 modestly priced rental homes. Here’s why it mattered, and why I’m not giving up. 🎥

Delighted to attend the 2025 BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Awards alongside Sarah Kirby-Yung to celebrate BC’s culinary legends, rising stars & sustainability champions. 👏 Glen Korstrom was recognized as a true Friend of the Industry. Thanks to host Ian Tostenson for bringing us together. 🙏
