December, and it is dark now by 4pm. We rise in darkness and finish work long after the sickly sun has dragged across the day. Storm after storm has wrapped us in thick and soaking cloud, pushed us inwards. There are 13 days until the shortest day. I am desperate for the sky.

Sometimes the combination of arrogance and ignorance is breathtaking. Yes, US health care has high admin costs; that's because it relies so much on private insurers. Govt-run health insurance has much lower overhead
