I either have or am getting over a migraine (head injury). Pissed off lady from Queens who’d rather be reading instead worrying about an impending oligarchy. Former bartender from the LES. Joey Ramone called me a “goofy chick” in the 90’s 🤪

Note from a human rights lawyer to members of the U.S. military: If directed to execute illegal orders, remember, declaring “I was just following orders” was not a valid defense during the Nuremberg trials, & it won’t be here either.

Your oath is to the US Constitution—not to a 34X convicted felon.

They’re not behaving as if they’re in a four-year term.

They’re behaving as if they’re in an everlasting dictatorship.

Are we all clear on this?

Meet Bob Ferguson, the new Governor of Washington State.

As Attorney General, Ferguson sued the first Trump administration nearly 100 times.

As governor, Ferguson had the foresight to sign a bill restricting the National Guards of other states to operate in Washington without express permission.
Washington just took the reasonable step of not allowing the National Guard of other states to operate here without our agreement. It’s not the Guard personnel we are concerned about, it’s other governors in the Trump cult. katu.com/news/local/g...

Everyone needs to think harder about how to drive attention to this giant Medicaid cut bill Republicans are on the verge of passing — it’s very unpopular, all factions of Democrats oppose it, and yet it’s barely present in the discourse.

Boyle: We just verified with the congressional budget office and of 13.7 million Americans who will lose their health care because of their bill, exactly zero are undocumented immigrants

I’m so angry about this that I’ll probably get banned if I speak my mind. Their actions imply that they actually want to kill us if we’re not wealthy.
Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that would put millions of Americans at risk of losing their health care.

They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, take away tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and raise costs for working class families.

I woke up to a really loud TING!! and couldn’t figure out what made that sound. Turns out our cat broke my boyfriend’s limited edition coffee cup that came with his Beatles White Album. We found another one on Etsy but I just introduced him to the art of kintsugi. www.openculture.com/2019/12/a-vi...

Can someone explain why TikTok is a bigger national security concern than a social media platform run by a South African technofeudal oligarch actively interfering in our elections and sabotaging our national interests here and abroad?

They’d need to change the format to something like a telethon to raise money for victims of the fires for it not to be, well, completely gross. I get why they want the show to go on but they should consider modifying it since the fires aren’t even completely out yet.
I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, and how they're a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah-blah-blah, so-on-and-so-forth. It all makes a degree of sense, but to me it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.

They just wouldn’t shut up about the cigar. I’m no prude but I was like, “Eww! I did NOT need to know that”. Aside from being tmi I thought that the entire thing was none of our business. It was personal & not like attempting a coup or inciting an insurrection.
When Bill Clinton had his scandal with Monica Lewinsky, Republicans acted like it was the end of civilization. Now, they’re putting a rapist and convicted felon into the Oval Office. The hypocrisy is insane.
