The Mighty Lyng

I am here to discuss music, literature, and condemn the appalling genocide in #Gaza. I have no interest in publicly engaging with people I cut off contact with years ago. In the words of Brian May: "In the quiet of the night
Let our candle always burn
Let us never lose
The lessons we have learned."
"Ringo out the old, ring in the neeeeew..."

I'm the same age John Bonham was when he died. That's a sobering* thought.

*I'm aware of the irony of the adjective.

"I want to run, I want to hide, I want to tear down these walls that hold me inside..."

As if by magic, I heard this tune as I prepared myself at 16 to spend a few weeks at a French speaking college. Bono spoke to the nervous adolescent soul.
What are the first song lyrics that come to mind when you see this album cover?

Well said, Eric.
Music is supposed to be fun - that's why it's called playing! Yeah, there are deadlines and practice, but don’t forget to have fun with your craft. Jam, experiment, and enjoy the process.

I'm not gone on Cilla Black bashing, but there's no hiding the fact that her version of Long and Winding Road is ghastly beyond measure.

Joachim Trier's latest flick is high on sentiment and low on value.

I can sympathise with John Lydon. It is stomach churning when former work colleagues won't contact you with a note of condolence when a family member dies.

A father and son communicate over disparate timelines. The first avenges his older brother, the latter murders his.

The biggest issue with all three #BenoitBlanc movies is that the culprits were too obvious. No misdirect, no sleight of hand. If anything, the #Prestige has a better twist...and that was deliberately underwhelming.

I haven't been able to watch When The Light Breaks since 2024. It's so achingly raw, expertly dealing with young adults loss. But the final moments of the two women uniting with love for a mutual ex was heartwarming.
What movie was so sad for you that you would never watch it again?
