Brick by brick
I've built this
claustrophobic cell
around myself;
so high,
so cramped,
so rock-solid that
there's no way
that love could ever
get in or out.
And the sledgehammer
of freedom is on
the other side of the wall,
near where I placed the first brick.

I heard you call out to me,
So I turned to you.

I saw you beckoning me,
So I ran to you.

I felt you touch me,
So I embraced you.

I smelled your perfume,
and I inhaled the essence of you.

I tasted your lips,
and I hunger even more.

All five senses working in harmony to seek perfection.

It was a dance.
A tango of nuance.
Two lovers
deftly stepping in time
in a coordinated display
for the world to see.
But he was too close
to understand.
He had no perspective.

So she found a new
dance partner --
one who closed
his eyes on purpose
so he could see
with more than
just his eyes.

Brighter days
play hide and seek
amongst the ones that are so dark,
tapping on my shoulder.
As I turn, they are
nowhere to be found.
But I continue twirling
in circles of confusion and doubt,
giving life to the swindlers
of my destiny.

I can't tell
if the lies you've told
are to protect you
or to protect me,
but deception
is deception.

So I'm done
with you
and your false narrative
because no good
can come from it.

But I *will* miss you.

Go figure.

Many have walked the tunnel
of collapsing time and
infinite space.
Its walls are soaked
with the remnants
of poor decisions and
bitter defeat.
Lungs have filled
with the savage air,
longing for the day
when breath comes easy.

Bitter and bleak.
Another winter's day
arrives and the sun
takes its time
clocking in to work.
Far away from where I am,
the sun gives warmth to
those who absorb its rays.
But where I am,
the sun does nothing
except give light
to my frozen world.
It's cold.
So very cold.

Trying to create a new presence here after years on X/Twitter. I'm going to cross-post content for new stuff in both places, but may occasionally post some of my older content from X/Twitter here.
