Painting a new card for my **Nahua Lotería**. This one shows Tlaloc’s vessel, pouring life-giving rain. It speaks of **abundance** and the **sacredness of water**. Each card is part of a tarot deck of ancestral symbols.

Pride Month unfolds, a time to honor the resilience and joy of queer love. My painting shows two Nahua women in El Salvador, making pupusas—a tribute to everyday love. El Salvador holds a special place in my heart. May this month celebrate love in all its forms. #PrideMonth #QueerLove #Nahua

Entrusted with a stone image of Xochipilli, the Prince of Flowers and lord of art and joy, I honor Him with regalia, copal, prayers, and dance. He guides my hands and heart with creativity. #ChicanoArt #IndigenousArt #MexicanArt #Xochipilli #Artist #Spirituality

In Huey Tozoztli, we honor the Lords of Corn. Chicomecōātl is ripened maize, sacred and alive. I painted Her as part of my Chicano/Mexica spiritual art. Download a free high-res file to print for your altar— www.deviantart.com/micorazonmex...

Drawing and painting the sacred hand of the Tonalequeh—Mexica Lords of art, joy, and movement. Their glyphs mark the heart of this oil painting, part of my spiritual Indigenous Chicano art. I’ll share the full piece soon—prints will be in my Etsy shop. #mexica #chicanoart #aztec

We are now in the veintena—or “month”—of Huey Tozoztli, when we honor the lords of maize. This image comes from next year’s Indigenous calendar, taken from my “Aztec” tarot deck. A young farmer leans upon his coa and reflects on his labor.

Watercolor of Pitao Cozobi, Zapotec Lord of the Young Maize—painted during Tozoztontli for the Be’ena’ Za’ diaspora, to honor Indigenous memory and ceremony.

This painting shows a nahual—a shape-shifting figure from Indigenous Mexican tradition—transforming into a jaguar to bring rain and maize. Inspired by the ancient murals of Cacaxtla, and rooted in Chicano, Mexica, and Native identity.

For Mermay, a painting of queer Indigenous love from Guatemala. The Xocomil, a water spirit of Lake Atitlán, falls for a girl who bathes in its waters. When she disappears, the lake turns stormy with grief. In this version, the Xocomil is a Mayan mermaid. Prints in my Etsy—link in bio!

Today is 6 Death, a day sacred to the Moon—who was born on a day Miquiztli. Last night was the full moon. To honor her, I painted myself in white chalk, like Tecciztecatl, the Lord of Snails, who appears in our codices pale, luminous, crowned with shells.
