With sadness but also with gratitude, I've said goodbye to my trusted OG shoes. They have served me throughout our travels and countless TikTok vids. I broke the arches climbing up and down the Acropolis of Athens. This is the sacred monument of which I gave them up for sacrifice.

The "new" Theatre of Dionysus dates from the rule of Emperor Hadrian. The Romans eschewed the strange rituals of Greek dramas for relatable satire and melodrama. A mealy gruel that we know as entertainment. T.V. cops, doctors, and lawyers; reality crime: & impossible CGI special effect missions.

At the Athenian Theatre of Dionysus playwrights, players and chorus enacted tragedies & comedy asking such existential questions as: Why do we suffer, and mostly from the hands of each other? The answer to the chaos and the void of our time is 2 reject fear, hate & greed 4 charity, hope & ♥️

That predator was Phillip of Macedonia and father to Alexander the Great. Phillip slaughtered what was left of young Athenian males under arms, appropriated the once powerful Navy, put the ruling Adult Males to death, taking their slaves, women, and children for himself.

The weaker city states joined up with Sparta. The Athenian Army was again annihilated. Sparta told the Athenian to demolish their walls, exposing the City to other predators.

Strapped for $$$ the Athenians demanded more tribute from other city states who were granted protection from enemies provided by Athens and its all powerful Navy.

With power limited to a few, there was instability and conflict. The obliteration of its expedition army in Sicily led to disaster.

The Athenian Adult Males doubled down. Restricting the vote to only those slave owning adult males born of two native born parents.

My promised essay from the Acropolis of Athens
The Fall of Athenian Democracy I believe, was due to their refusal to extend direct vote beyond slave owning adult males

A sublime aesethic of architecture, construction and engineering the Acropolis of Athens and the Parthenon has held me in its awe since childhood. At age 69, finally, I experienced this wonder of humanity.

Out of respect for the young NYPD officer who left a family behind and gave his life to protect others and for respect of the persons and family who lives have been forever changed...I've held off on my essay until today...

Mykanos was a bust! Wind. Allergies. Stayed aboard. Dinner had to compensate. Poor me!

It's Thursday at sea in the Aegean. Last evening was an exceptional dinner. Wednesday was Turkey. I stayed on board. A personal statement.
My dinner companions said I hadn't missed much save for the 'aggressive' merchants.

Tuesday. What did I see of Rhodes? Our ship's approach. From Deck 16, the medieval crusader walls never looked better. A mini Jerusalem. Slept 😴 in.

Later that Monday night 🌙... Somehow, I'd found my stateroom and collapsed. Canceled dinner booking. The buffet was 😋. Smart choice. A very handsome fellow queer and a follower...Hercules introduced himself. Immediately, I was charmed. Why not? I gave in. Look closely at my face, though. LOL

I slept through Rhodes. The previous day was Santorini. Nothing had prepared me for the sheer WOW factor of our big ship turned tiny by the blue water caldera. Viewed the bronze age ruins...a mess. The return was HELL. A 2 hour line 4 the cable car in 💯 F. 🙏🙏🙏 my Bronx ladies.

I made the cruise. Departed Athens for Santorini. Enjoying the view from the aft bar.

This is my first repost. It was selected because the most marginalized people- Queers, immigrants, green cardholders and naturalized Americans are being scapegoated.
The rest of us think it isn't going to happen to us. Really. After the last 2 decades, you really believe that line of ?
