“Dad’s cousin” isn’t even about calling people of the older generation uncle or aunt! I grew up with the expectation I’d call and view my mom’s cousin’s uncles in the same way as her brother, and have generally assumed that’s not that odd?!
I used to love how my daughter's little friend Neha, down the street, would call me "Uncle Jeff" when the girls were little.
