Defending #Rojava is both politically and morally essential. The Kurds in Rojava were the forces that led the war against ISIS, a threat to human dignity on an international scale. The Kurds not only liberated the Kurdish region in Syria but also sacrificed many young lives in Raqqa, the👇🧵

If the international community and institutions want a more democratic and secular Syria that will not pose a threat to the West, and if they wish to prevent Afghanistan-like forms of governance from emerging in Syria, they must stop Turkish aggression and its SNA mercenaries.

Today marks the fall of another dictator in the Middle East. The Syrian state, particularly the Ba’ath regime, has suppressed non-Arab, non-Shia communities since the late 1940s. For example, in 1962, 120,000 Kurds were stripped of their citizenship, a number that grew to 300,000 by 2010. 🧵👇

The Turkish anti-Kurdish policy is beyond imagination. In 2018, the Kurds in Afrin were forced by Turkish-backed jihadist militias to abandon their lives, homes, and lands and resettle elsewhere. Many of these people sought refuge in Tal Rifaat, but now, once again, they are being forced to👇
