🌴 #MigratingPalm is a young Chinese windmill palm transported from Ticino to the Rhone Glacier by the architecture collective dorsa just before a ban by the Swiss Federal Council. Inspiring 📽️ #clip and architects' perspective on #invasivespecies and #regulations.

🔉Version 2.0-1 of our #KISSMig #Rstats package for #SpeciesMigration modeling is now live on #CRAN. This #bugfix addresses overprediction in version 2.0-0 that may arise when using time series of binary suitability maps. More Information about #KISSMigwww.wsl.ch/en/services-...

🗞️New paper led by @s-sandeep.bsky.social and @michaelnobis.bsky.social out!

🧬 Integrating population genetics with dynamic species distribution modeling shows how wild black pepper spread in India’s Western Ghats since the ice age.

How does the eastern distribution limit of #plants in the European #Alps look like? The #Schneeberg 🏔️ (2076 m) in #Austria near #Vienna is a great place to find out! The often isolated occurrences must have been better connected to the other populations in the past.

🔉Happy to share our new publication and global data compilation #GenDivRange covering population genetic diversity of 19,173 geo-referenced populations and 1,109 species. A big thank to Katalin Csilléry, who initiated and led this project, and to all colleagues. (1/2)

#Pulsatilla #vernalis, lady of the snows❄️, last weekend in the 🇨🇭Alps above treeline at c. 2250m🏔️. Early flowering in alpine spring with overwintering leaves next to Crocus albiflorus and #Ranunculus #kuepferi, and phenologically variable from early flowering to #postfloral #elongation.

80 years after #WW2 I stumbled across #Parietaria #pensylvanica in #Berlin. Thought to be escaped from botanical garden after bombings (or brought by 🇺🇸🪖?) it’s now well established on this #urbanbiodiversity #island 🏝️ but hasn't spread much further! #bioinvasions floraweb.de/php/artenhom...
