Twin Cities based, Luka Lakers fan (formerly Mavs fan), affordable housing enthusiast, actual animal lover (I don’t eat them), eat the rich
Of course the second I leave downtown this is created. I had to WORK and get lost MANY TIMES to earn my skyway knowledge.

A conundrum of being vegan in an algorithm driven world is that my anti-animal cruelty bent buckets me with animal stuff generally - so on the hell site Facebook, my selected content is a bunch of animal rescues, but my default reels via algorithm are literally slaughter videos. Fuck you Zuckerberg

There's something so sad about when people lose weight then dish on their previous heavier self as a worthless slob. Both versions are you, both are/were doing their best, who knows what's different now that wasn't true previously. You'll probably be heavier again, so be kind.

Annual "how do you know someone is vegan? they'll tell you" post incoming: Becoming vegan 8 years ago is the personal choice I'm most proud of in life. I'm committed to rooting out needless suffering anywhere I find it with whatever power I have (not very much).

We need a national dashboard tracking what stage of the "first they came for" quote we're at

Voters who want to be raptured should get less a vote - they clearly aren't invested in the current world as the rest of us who are stuck here

If the Borealis route is gonna be a thing, can we get working WiFi @amtrak.com? It took me 30 minutes to send this skeet

Moment of silence for those of us with MAGA parents who decided today is a great day to reconnect with newly found moral high ground.

In grad school I spent a lot of coursework and time with a professor who advocated for tolerance as an ideal instead of pluralism. Not because pluralism is bad, but because it's really ambitious and potentially unrealistic.

Cars and guns are basically the same in my eyes, except you generally still need a car to get around. But principal is the same - it's insane that we have access to these tools that give people such potential for harm to self and others.

When you get work lunch with someone who you didn't know is married to a Frey-PAC-endorsed city council candidate and immediately shit on the mayor before a bite is eaten.

It's that time of year where I condemn the MN State Fair as a shrine to the normalization of animal exploitation. This received audible groans in my staff meeting during the "are you going to the fair" ice breaker.

"The difference between “housing provider” and landlord is the difference between a date and a paid escort or sex worker"

Landlord Doublespeak and the Rise of the 'Housing Provider' | Common Dreams
What drives the preference of landlords to call themselves “housing providers” is a desire to euphemize the landlord-tenant relationship and to obscure some of its basic and most important features.

I've yet to find a use of AI that is worth burning the planet down even faster - for instance in housing, its being used to automate mortgage approvals/denials - some housing folks say its worth it because AI could use alternative data to give more people access to mortgages

Food on the Fly in downtown MPLS is GOOD! Can only speak to the vegan food, but its easily the best skyway food I've had and its not particularly close. Tell them I sent you and it won't mean anything or result in any discount.

Never felt more accurately judged by a skeet
“I’ve always found it pretty easy to make friends here, the biggest obstacle was always me not wanting to leave my apartment,” says one transplant.

Adds another: “Honestly, I don't know how folks who actually get out and do stuff don't make friends here.”

In understanding how our society become totally empathy-less, I go back to the first times people see or are exposed to suffering for it to then be normalized or explained away. When were our moral arguments for valuing equality and dignity first mutated into groups of deserving and undeserving?

Every time I eat Minnesota Nice Cream I think I’m being pranked because of how bad their vegan flavors are. This is my local reporting on the vegan scene for July

There's no part of the meat industry that's not exploitative - if you don't care for for the animals sake, how about the humans who do the dirty work? Thank you for your writing, @kennytorrella.bsky.social

Golf courses are the biggest waste of space in urban America. WTF are we doing when we don't have enough housing, but smack dab in the Twin Cities is enough land used by mostly rich white people to fit the geographic area of Boston.

If your seminary thinks gay people should be abstinent forever than the other things you learned at that seminary might likewise be very very bad.

Growing up is realizing just how rich your fiends' families were growing up - I just learned the retail price of a Lovesac bean bag... one of my friends had 3 - which apparently meant they were billionaires.

I knew Suits LA would be worse than the original, but its unfathomably worse. And the original wasn't THAT good, they just had chemistry and good transition music.

I was a fan for the majority of my life - watched in the sad post-dirk-prime days like a sicko - and I can't help but be a Luka Lakers fan now, despite how weird it feels.
Any reasonable owner fires Nico Harrison tonight. I mean, any reasonable owner fires him when he brings up that he's trading Luka Doncic. But he should be fired right now. The team is literally not going to come back from this. Almost every Mavs fan I know is now a Lakers fan.
