This is "common knowledge" that most artists and creatives are supposed to come from the middle or upper classes. But this is far from being the majority of them. This myth nails from the fact that only the most privileged and successful get coverage. This is why they are "celebrities" in fact.
Just more reasons for universal basic income. First, no one should live in poverty. Second, creatives should have the space to exist within to create—without the constraints to create or starve. Third, creatives should have more power to decide the price of what they create, via the power to say NO.
Creative work in general pays far less than people think it does, especially relative to the notability one can have. The correlation between "fame" and "income" is rather shaky, especially the further down you go on the fame power curve. Lots of "world famous" creators are broke as hell.
