When I was younger I was really focused on having a style or niche and staying within the parameters of that decision, but I don’t worry about that stuff anymore—I just paint whatever feels good to paint. Art needs an audience though, so I came here 😊

The reference for this painting of Saint Paraschiva of the Balkans was an icon that I saw in a little Russian Orthodox church in Alaska. My Grandmother's name was Paraschiva, so in a way, I made this painting for her.

I love to paint the ocean. Big painting or small, doesn’t matter. When I paint it, it’s as though I’m there! It’s Ocean magic!!!

The water’s still a little stirred up after the weather rolled through.
This painting, “Afternoon Storm on #LakePontchartrain,” captures a bit of that energy just as the sky starts to calm.

Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 24.

Silence. And peace. And calm. I like it here, standing by the banks of this slow, serene river. Its tranquility fills me.

When I was little, I collected hand fans. Now, sometimes I paint them.
I’ve found that when you move the air, you move energy.
And if you do it with good intent, beautiful things tend to follow. Let’s all fan on…

I love witnessing the wakes of boats and ships. It's not so much the leaving, but the idea that you are headed somewhere new. I am kinda old, and this is an older painting, "Leaving Haines" acrylic on canvas, 16 x 20.

I had a cat companion, his name was Max. He was 2 when I got him and 19 when he died. It was 3 years ago and I still miss him every day. He used to love to watch the birds. This, my painting of him, acrylic on canvas, 6 x 6.
