I shot this in 1991 on the anniversary of a violent crackdown on demonstrations for democracy after a 1980 coup d'état in S. Korea. The military claimed these were "riots" instigated by "communist sympathizers", and killed up to 2,300 protestors in Gwangju.

Sound familiar?

In an executive order, Trump ordered Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to create “specialized units” in the National Guard “specifically trained and equipped to deal with public order issues." Professional killers trained in deescalation? Good luck.

Erie County Sheriff John Garcia vowed while campaigning to help inmates experiencing mental health crises and implement better programming. Yet four years later, county jails remain notorious for their high death rate.

There’s a New Sheriff in Town. But Buffalo Area Jails Remain as Dangerous as Ever.
Despite federal oversight, elections, and promises of reform from a new sheriff, little has changed for people detained in Erie County jails.

Democrats closed psychiatric hospitals, then Republicans killed budgets for community services. Homelessness spiraled.

MAGA's criminalising homelessness and locking them up may result in property values rising, but it will further harm those with psychosocial problems.

I have no intention to travel to the United States. Out of general interest, I share this report about the gathering and use of your social media history to analyse whether your opinions are acceptable.

Iran warned the US of their missile strikes on the bases six hours in advance, so personnel could be moved out of harm's way. The regime needed to show its population it was reciprocating.

I previously wondered whether the US leaked to the Iranians its impending bunker buster bombardment.

Trump contradicting his “No New Wars” campaign statements and bypassing Congress when ordering a bunker bombs attack in Iran are straight from Putin’s playbook. Remember, Russia is not “at war” with Ukraine.

I was concerned there would be radiation leakage from the bunker bombs’ deep penetration into the large centrifuge halls, but it seems plausible there was none or a negligible amount.

I was surprised Trump would use Fentanyl as an excuse to declare a national emergency, especially "coming from Canada". Murders with machine guns are also an epidemic.

Now a new, dangerous artificial opioid is hitting the Streets. As if humanity did not have enough self destructive threats.

The evidence of Trump’s complicity in and encouragement of violence is damning.
