The final salmon fry samples of the year were just collected in western Iceland. One year old fry are being sampled for signatures of genetic introgression of aquaculture salmon following an escape event in Patreksfjörður in 2023. Video is from Kjallakstaðaá by Fellsströnd.

MFRI celebrates today 19 June, a day of celebration and fight for for women´s right, but on this day in 1915, Icelandic women were granted the right to vote. A new chapter was opened last winter at the Institute when a Gyða María Símonardóttir took over the position of chief engineer. #womensright
