If you think this looks like a mess: it isn‘t. It‘s a treasure trove of information. There is no history writing without archives, and there are no archives without people who appreciate and protect them.

April 1783 - smallpox inoculation time at Traquair House "Linton only cried a little - Lord Traquair played with him - gave him toys to divert him". Little did they know what lay ahead... #archives

Learning a lot from transcribing 7th Countess's diary at Traquair House - this morning I learnt that a Court plaister was an artificial beauty spot made from isinglass on silk - sounds very Jane Austen! #archives
