Building my little utopia in a temperate rainforest. But we’ve all gotta be fighting inertia now. Welcome to the world in 2025.
Beef stew for dinner tonight, with all due credit to Kenji Lopez-Alt, whose phenomenal recipes I keep daring to adapt.

But I’m mad that gelatin works.

Relevant to my thoughts about the current state of media, especially ‘new media’ like Xitter.

( @timminchin.bsky.social is bloody brilliant, you should watch his stuff. )

Trying to hold onto the spirit, so you all get the Thanksgiving toast as well.

Hey friends. The world has gone more than a little crazy, and the best thing we can do to weather it is hold fast to our loved ones; to talking and working and living together, not apart.

Here’s to all of you.

Portland was graced tonight with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. And as ever, they did NOT disappoint!

Now that I've fled Leon's site for bluer skies, I'm sure I'll be called an #Ex-X, but personally, I'll always consider myself a #TwitterQuitter.

So, guys.

What if Someone started a podcast or blog, dedicated to men, and to understanding positive, responsible masculinity, with everything that means. Allyship, privilege, and so on.

Would you be into that, would you listen? What topics would you want discussed?

This dog’s expression. ‘Look, I don’t wanna get up either, but we have stuff to do.’

I think it speaks for all of us. Although most of us have to go work, whereas he just has to go sleep in a *different* place.

I am reading This is How You Lose the Time War, by Max Gladstone and Amal El-Mohtar.

I’m currently luxuriating in the sheer beautiful poetry of the writing. I understand I will soon be rolled by the narrative, and am sliding willfully toward tragedy like a hart bounding toward wolf-dappled woods.

Meanwhile, let’s roll up the current political disaster in brief, shall we?

POTUS: ignorant blowhard
vPOTUS: couch-fucker
CoS: Thatcher 2.0
dCoS: fascist
SoS: Li’l Marco
AG: sex trafficker
SoD: anti-woman grunt
SoHD: dog-killer
DoNI: crazed Russian asset

And throw in the billionaireS to audit it.

Fair warning that I may spout off about politics sometimes, especially given the authoritarian hell that were rapidly descending into.

I’ll try and keep BlueSky friendly and mostly keep it under my hat here, but… good god, ya’ll.

What’s up, Bluesky? Coming here from the useless hell that Xitter has turned into. I’m a hard-bitten fact-checking jerk who would really prefer to actually have a real supportive social network. Ya’ll gonna help me out?

(My dog Plato, for the emerging algorithm! Am I doing this right?)
