The Homeless Action Team was joined by a host of partners for a snowy outreach session this weekend, including partners from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County Government, & Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. As long as there is a need, HAT and our partners will be there to help!

Last night, an unsheltered man with wet socks and shoes connected with the Homeless Action Team (HAT) during their weekly outreach event. HAT member Joshua Watson was able to fit him with new socks and boots, just in time for a particularly frigid night.

Officers Nelson & Jacka went above and beyond when they assisted a woman who had been transported to the hospital. The woman had a service dog, and, they ensured the animal was transported safely so they could be reunited at the hospital. Their compassion truly reflects the values of our department.

Another MTPD good deed caught on camera! Officer Vang was recently spotted helping a citizen get to their destination, personally pushing the wheelchair-using person from Franklin and Elliot to the ALDI store at Franklin and 14th, a trip of about four blocks. Thank you, Officer Vang!

While on patrol at Fremont Ave N. and Broadway earlier this week, MTPD officers observed a unoccupied vehicle in the middle of the road. They found the owner and learned that she had ran out of gas. The officers helped push the vehicle into a safe place while she waiting for her tow.

Recently, Officer DuLac was at his morning rush hour detail and noticed a dog roaming with a leash on, but no owner in the vicinity. Officer DuLac was able to get the dog in the back of the squad & safely transported the pup to the shelter where she is safe and her owners can hopefully find her.

An elderly gentleman found himself lost on the platform. Without hesitation, Lt. Leubner stepped in—walking him to the end of the platform and providing clear directions so he could safely find his way.

While on directed patrol at LRT Franklin Station, Officer Junker assisted the Minneapolis Police Department in locating and safely returning a child who had wandered away from home. Thanks to quick coordination and community alertness, the child is now back with their family.

MTPD's HAT unit and its partners from Mental Health Minnesota were happy to participate in The Family Partnership's Community Health Fair today. These events connect people with coordinated entry housing assessments, medical care, insurance navigation, and other services.
