The writer Hannah Kingsley-Ma and her 4-year-old nephew don't agree on many books. "Believe it or not, that age gap really makes a difference," she writes. But James Marshall's "George and Martha" books is a series that has lessons for them both. nyti.ms/4pmmLO9

Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump are “two opposing faces of modern America as it was built and performed by their generation,” Eric Alterman writes in a guest essay. “They offer their fan bases a promise of entirely different futures.”

I’m reading The Death of Virgil by Hermann Broch. The longest reading of mine and the deepest reflections I have out of a novel. I am intrigued by Virgil’s quest for and conceptualization of knowledge, or act/process of knowing and its relation to the self.

Still under the influence of Cafe Müller by Tanztheater Wupppertal. Music by Henry Purcell coupled with Pina Bausch’s undeniably delicate mastery of senses by means of movement manifested in Cafe Müller made tears easy to fall...falling for ebbs and flows of being human.
