I'm hearing from multiple people that students who submitted ecology GRFP proposals are having those proposals rejected without review, despite ecology being listed as an eligible field. If this is a programmatic change, this is devastating. Ecology is the study of Earth's life support systems.
A number of our students got the following comment back on a rejection for the NSF GFRP. They are in an eligible STEM field. Is this something people in other places are getting too? Is it a quirk or targeted?

Latest intel: The 5 govt funding bills will pass, & the 6th, the DHS bill, will get a continuing resolution to buy time to negotiate whatever these conditions in ICE are. The fight right now btwn Schumer & the White House is how long that CR will be. The WH wants 3 months; Schumer wants 1-2 weeks.

At the most fundamental level, the Trump admin is still treating peaceful protesters as the aggressors and the heavily armed government militias as the victims, even though Homan, Miller, Noem, Trump have spent months torquing them into a frenzy of hate and telling them they can act with impunity.

Not enough. Homan’s baby steps to calm Minneapolis are no substitute for legislative action to restrain & reform an out of control agency inflicting violence & violations of rights. And astonishingly, no mention of immediate investigation of deaths with state & local law enforcement.
