Lots of🏀clips & stats on this feed!
Here's a lot of my thoughts running through the game:

Because yeah, after going 8/14 from deep against the Jazz, it's fair to say the shooting trend from the end of last season is bearing out.
He's more than doubled his catch-&-shoot volume from deep - and is hitting those pretty well thus far.

The Rockets are a proper outlier in overperforming their predicted 3P% in this early season:

This massive leap in his effort to get offensive rebounds also makes him a much easier fit with the ever-increasing number of ball handlers in San Antonio.

And it's showing up across all rebounding stats to start the season.
He was famously the youngest player in the NBA as a rookie so it seems right that he's now coming into his own.

Seriously, the man will forever be associated with one of the worst and most inexplicable moves in the history of sports.
And the way this roster was built has done nothing but make it harder for the other gem that fell on his lap.
It was time.

I always liked his passing, so I'm glad to see it deployed so heavily as we get a proper run of him having such a large role.
It's still early but his metrics have taken a fitting leap:

Always consistent with his effort + motor and the shot has gone in so far (11/25 from 3).
Looks like he's played with Golden State for years.

The leap he's taken is partially a product of the small sample size so far. But the film backs him up as a more aggressive finisher.

One of them is the 'spacing version' of Bam Adebayo, with unprecedented volume from beyond the arc for the big man.

It's just more overall balance: a 2nd player you can deploy at the PoA or as a chaser and you always -

Comparing the long midrange shooting of DeMar DeRozan, Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
If there's any NBA player you want to see highlighted in this map, as long as he's played after 2000-01, feel free to comment a name...

VJ bringing it up and quickly hitting another guard (ex: Maxey) to spark an attack was a staple of the 4th quarter vs Orlando
Great to start actions already in motion; That speed gives them a head start in creating an advantage

This because I feel Trae benefits more from the rolling/athletic threat for his PnR.
SUPER small samples but let's take stock:
