I do not use AI when I hand make my original, one-of-a-kind art pieces. I DO, however, use AI to fly. 🦸🏻‍♀️ MelissaMiltonArt.com

Each curve, layer, and texture on this mixed-media sculpture is made by hand — one-of-a-kind and never repeated. Ready to be the focal point of a home or office that values originality.

DM for size, price, or gallery currently exhibiting this piece.

Watch for my art in At Home in Arkansas magazine’s January/February “Art” issue. Here is last Jan/Feb’s Art issue, in which one of my sculptures was shown. For 2026 it will be a painting.

THANK Y’ALL for your valuable feedback thru facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. The vast majority of votes were to leave this painting “as is” and not paint over parts of it with solid gray as I had planned to. I’m going to follow the majority’s advice! I appreciate it.

And now for one of the less glamorous aspects of being an Artist: Framing the artwork you’ve painted. 🖼️

For some reason, God did not put me in charge of how sharks look. But had God done so, this painting called “Ribbon Shark” shows what sharks would look like had I been in charge of that decision.

“Ribbon Shark”, 16”x20”, alcohol inks and acrylic paint on canvas, in Floater Frame. #art

Still experimenting with Negative Space concepts on small canvases. I’m playing around and problem solving on small canvases, like this 8x10, before I go BIG (30x40, 40x40, etc).

“Sea Breeze” is now done. I enjoyed trying to portray the vibe of wind whipping all around you when you’re walking along a body of water. Alcohol inks & acrylic paint on canvas. 17x21. MelissaMiltonArt.com #art #artist #northwestarkansas #originalartwork

Been experimenting in “negative space”. Just doodling around with it, seeing what works and what doesn’t work. 🤔 I’m a believer in what I used to repeat to my then young children: “If you don’t try new things, you won’t know new things.”

I tend to paint in many layers of glazes, so there are many “stop and let it dry a day or two” pauses. So I usually have 3-5 artworks in progress going at any given time. So there’s something for me to create on while other pieces are pausing to dry.

Here is one of those works in progress.

WORK IN PROGRESS: This alcohol ink & acrylic painting, “Sea Breeze”, has got me thinking about eye Floaters.

I’ve had 5 eye laser surgeries on my retinas to repair holes. My vision is full of Floaters: Blobs & strands in your vision.

Sometimes they show up in my paintings. Like this one.

I’ve been enjoying creating small originals for this upcoming holiday season’s shoppers. They will be carried at the NWA & OK galleries and gift shops carrying my art pieces. 🎄🎅🏼🎁

Most of my art pieces are very carefully planned out ahead of time. But a few of them just “happen”. I make them up as I go along. This shark painting (a work in progress) is just “happening”. I’m VERY curious how it’s going to turn out! 🤷🏻‍♀️🦈

“PANDA-Monium!” was a challenging but fun painting to create. 20 inches x 16 inches. Alcohol inks & acrylic paint on canvas.

When painting the background on “Vase Vibes”, I think I began unconsciously channeling some of the 1950s era paintings I saw in people’s homes when I was a kid. Same with the “sketchy” brushwork on the flower. MelissaMiltonArt.com #artist #northwestarkansas #art #painting

Here’s my artwork on the cover of this month’s American Mensa magazine. 🎈

The original painting is presently hanging in my art studio. (See first comment)

My inspiration for this painting was Mindy Gledhill’s lovely, whimsical song, “Anchor”. MelissaMiltonArt.com

I had a thought that if I were to sometimes place my fish and bird sculptures on a pole, their fins or wings could be shown moving downward as well as upward. (On a flat surface their fins and wings are limited to only sideways or upward movement).
