Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there and especially the affirming fathers of trans kids and fathers teaching their kids to be respectful to all people. You are more appreciated than you could ever know.

This week I’ve felt like a radical for believing that trans kids should have joy and that a protester shouldn’t be taken and imprisoned. 🙃
You know what stories I would like to read and hear about?

People who have been pushed even more to the left/progressive/ Dem socialist side after the last several years-- and after everything happening with the Dem establishment now.

If we really put the welfare and well-being of children—ALL CHILDREN—first, it would be the first time we’ve ever done such a thing. And it would change everything.

Yesterday morning my therapist canceled our session with a brief text that said she “woke up with the neurosis.” I knew it must have been an autocorrect. But a part of me also wondered if it was real. EVERYONE is struggling.

At 2pm it clicked in my brain. Norovirus. 😳 But beware the neurosis too 😂

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

I’m including lots of visible knots in this hand quilted improv quilt WIP. I see them as a demonstration of strength and hope. 🪡

Because I have a need to understand every pop culture reference I am reading the Parable of the Sower despite my personal “no dystopia in January” rule. The idea of God as Change is maybe healing me? 🤯

2025 tip: are you watching TikTok all day and freaking out because you didn’t repaint your living room in leopard spots while spinning your own wool while going in a fitness journey while fridgescaping all while developing a totally original personal style. Fuck that noise. Do less.

Was managing the pre-holiday crunch of school concerts and family visits and return lines just fine until this full moon brought it all to an emotional and physical screeching halt. IYKYK. Thank the universe for a snuggle pup who doubles as a hot water bottle.

The week I quit Twitter in July 2023 we went to the Jersey shore. While getting ice cream before fireworks Jesse Watters and his wife staggered up to the window, drunk and groping each other, freaking out the children. I missed old Twitter so much it’s been in my mental drafts for 18mo I am freeeee🙃

Hi #quiltsky I’m Melanie. I make mostly improvisational quilts about my life and the things I care about. This is “Most Noble Sorceress” about recognizing and reclaiming my power with themes from the Wizard of Oz. Now hanging at the Hunterdon Art Museum in New Jersey. ✨

I’ve been waiting for someone with a big platform to say this. Enough.
For the @nytimes.com I wrote about how Enough is Enough with the incumbent president and his cabinet of folly and let’s stop coddling Trump voters and be real clear-eyed about what lies ahead. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/o...
Opinion | Enough
To suggest we should yield even a little to Trump’s odious politics is unacceptable. Even if we did, it would never be enough.
