My biggest takeaway was realizing how many communication types exist, like non-verbal cues. Learning the best way to approach them. Reading body language and managing conflict effectively has changed how I talk to people and handle relationships. It made everything more clear. #UTcommtheory

I enjoyed learning the social penetration theory. I thought it was really interesting to learn how relationships develop and deepen through self disclosure. It taught me to understand that in order to get closer to an individual, share more of yourself and peeling back your layers. #UTcommtheory

I think it's still relevant! The video shows how the algorithm is the new gatekeeper, totally setting the agenda by just showing us what it thinks we want. That's why my feed is always the same! #UTcommtheory

When influencers post viral GRWM and OOTD videos, it sets the whole fashion agenda it makes everyone feel like they need to try that new trend including myself lol #UTcommtheory

I think I have a parasocial relationship with Kennedy Eurich. She's one of my favorite digital creators, and she posts real content of her life. I find it very authentic and relatable! She brings emotional validation to my life by normalizing everyday struggles! #UTcommtheory

I chose Disney! A great example of their influence is how their newer movies, like Encanto, push the idea of embracing different family structures and finding your own voice, not just chasing romance like many of the older movies portrayed. #UTcommtheory

I experience context collapse when I go to post a picture while out, but quickly realize I'm in a sorority and can't post things like alcohol! #UTcommtheory

Honestly, AI kinda sucks because now I feel like I constantly have to prove my work is original. It makes turning in a simple paper way more stressful than it needs to be. #UTcommtheory

My communication strategy is Assertive Assimilation. Since I have to balance two jobs with school, I often overcompensate, doing extra work in projects or volunteering for tasks, to ensure others don't assume my busy schedule makes me any less committed than my peers. #UTcommtheory

I respond best to participation. I need my voice to actually change the final decision, not just go into a suggestion box. Anything less feels like a waste of effort in my opinion. #UTcommtheory

I think a fast-fashion brands should stop its blame culture. I'd recommend something like a team talk ritual where everyone shares mistakes to build understanding and better teamwork across all the departments. #UTcommtheory

Logos- Missing class means you literally can't pass the attendance requirements. So showing up everyday is the logical, necessary step for success in the course. It's simple math! #UTcommtheory

I used Drake because everyone knows him. The meme shows a conflict in my mind (Cognitive Dissonance). I want a mental health break and delete the apps, but a few hours later, I put them back on my phone for marketing. I tell myself I'm working so I don't feel bad about scrolling. #UTcommtheory

Yes, I support Media Multiplexity Theory. Stronger bonds mean you want to talk in more ways, so using multiple platforms is a must. My best friend (strong tie) and I text, share memes on Insta, and schedule FT calls. I only ever text a few words to a classmate (weak tie). #UTcommtheory

I respect people sharing their relationships on social media, but when I am in one, I plan to keep that part of my life more private and off the grid. My personal communication privacy management rule will involve a low permeability boundary for relationships. #UTcommtheory

I would pick Justin and Hailey Bieber! The main issue is Inclusion-Seclusion.They have huge tension between being a super public couple (Inclusion) and just wanting normal privacy (Seclusion). Its them struggling to choose what to share and what to hide from the media. #UTcommtheory

I will choose Information Seeking. As a nanny, I check out new parents social media to get a feel for their family and make sure the work environment is safe before I accept or start the job. This helps me know what to expect so i'm not surprised.

A new coworker of mine shared super deep things abut their rough childhood on day one. It felt like too much self disclosure too fast! Major social penetration rules were broken. #UTcommtheory

I grew up in a Pluralistic family. This means low conformity but high conversation. My mom is my best friend, she always encourages me to be myself and she will help me weigh options for a big decision instead of just forcing her opinion or telling me what to do. #UTcommtheory

A few months ago, I texted my sister about a stressful week, but she didn't reply for a whole day, violating my expectation of a quick response. When she apologized and explained she was swamped at work, I understood & I realized I shouldn't always expect an immediate response from her #UTcommtheory

Over the weekend, my "I" wanted to go out with friends, but my "me" knew I couldn't. As an active Kappa Delta member, I must follow the "dry weekend" rule for recruitment. Even though I wanted to go out, I had to decline due to my responsibility to the sorority. #UTcommtheory

The socio-cultural tradition stands out to me. I think the idea that we build our reality through communication is easy to relate to & I feel this happens constantly, as our words and stories can shape the reality of our friendships/groups. #UTcommtheory

I think a theory's most important criteria is a new understanding of people. The whole point of comm theory is to understand how we interact. If it can't give me a new perspective on why people do what they do, its not useful. To me, real insight is more important than just predicting. #UTcommtheory

I’m definitely more drawn to the objective approach because I like taking things that seem complicated and breaking them down. It’s easier to understand with structure or evidence, and I just feel more confident when there’s something solid to go off of. #UTcommtheory
