I swear, research is one of the most exciting parts of writing. I’m learning so many cool things about candles and how to run a candle shop. I even went out and made my own candle over the weekend. Just for a book. Just for words on some paper.

I hope to be as brilliant of a writer as @travisbaldree.bsky.social someday. Bookshops & Bonedust has left me warm and a bit teary-eyed. I lost my job just as I was reading the last few chapters, and to be reminded that wrong times lead to right ones will get me through this new chapter of my life.

In February, I was in and out of the ER and my doctor’s office for multiple sudden health issues. This is going on week 4. As I’m finally feeling better and ready to return to work… a cold slams into me. AAAAA. I just want to function in peace.

I think I’ve *finally* reached a comfortable-enough level to move on from my prologue to chapter 1. It’s so difficult to let go of perfectionist tendencies and just focus on the joy of writing. But I’m excited to move onto the next part!

Tonight I made white sauce chicken enchiladas from scratch. It was my first time. I got the sauce wrong, but it still tasted good, and best part: my husband, who usually has taste and texture issues, loved it! Wife & cooking win. ❤️
