Black Appalachian Coalition’s Bishop Marcia Dinkins:
💰Customers across PJM could have saved $707M+ last year if utilities had run their coal plants only when they were economic (!)
⚡️We need solutions that balance our energy needs with consumer protections instead of defaulting to incumbent power.
PJM sees ‘easy button’ to meet power needs, but Appalachians see higher bills and more pollution
As families make tough choices between paying the power bill or buying groceries, there are mandates and market manipulations keeping expensive coal online and consumers paying the price.

New year, new gig! After a few months out of the game, I’m excited to be supporting the field of organizations tackling uneconomic fossil fuel generation. A lot to learn about grantmaking, but always happy to talk all things energy, strategy, and utilities! Let’s stop paying $$$$ for pollution.
