Off the bat we have a top tier Aether Raids Defence unit from Book V, a very strong Legendary Hero, an incredibly bait Grail unit who everyone built, and one of the accidentally strongest units to ever hit the main pool with an incomplete kit all competing for the spot of the worst refine of the batch.

You are the Ocean’s Green Veins, destined to make everything hard to see and hard to reach. Yet when foes break through ice sheets, the foresty tiles then prevent their retreat… Terrible lyricism aside, we finally have more Yato alts. I have always found it funny that they insist on making Corrin a dragon when there are about six alternate versions of the Yato that they could use for literally anything - they don’t even show up in the art as like a sidearm.

Analysis by @medhaos. Fire Emblem: Shadows is certainly a game. I don’t know too much about it as my phone is too old to run the game, and I don’t have plans to cover it on this website unless I get someone who’s specialised in it to contribute. Either way, werewolf horse Lyn is now in Fire Emblem: Heroes, and with her inclusion comes the removal of the need for real weapon types or actual common sense when it comes to unit balancing.

I wasn’t quite right with the specifics (because I thought it’d centre around , but I do find it interesting that my theory surrounding the Emblem actually ended up being proven right. (The referenced gimmick is Air Superiority vs Young Camilla’s six range warping - my theory was the fact that Rearmed Hinoka coming with Air Superiority foreshadowed Emblem Corrin coming as the Camilla counter)

At least Ash looks pretty nice and has some interesting discussion points as a unit so we can look at those. On one end, being Attuned to Corrin isn’t exactly the most inspired choice and I’m surprised they didn’t lean him towards his Warriors promotion (like they did with Legendary Xander) or Sumeragi. On the other end, the colours and design of this alt actually do look really good… …even if he does look slightly more aquatic with that helmet.

Analysis by @medhaos. Masked Marth’s pronouns are a mess. First, in Awakening, Lucina still takes the Marth name after she is revealed to be a woman (she/her), however both FEH’s Meet The Heroes website refers to Masked Marth as a man (he/him), and the unit’s own description refers to “themself” (which in turn implies they/them). As a result of the fact that Masked Marth seems to use every pronoun, and because I don’t want to pick a particular side - I’ve decided that I’ll just be interchangeably using all of them because they all fit.

Analysis by @medhaos. Corrin’s Nohrian older sister famously broke the meta this book by combining Pass with a long distance warp and some frankly disgusting firepower. Not to be outdone, Corrin’s Hoshidan older sister has now created an inheritable skill that gives swords, lance, and axe fliers that exact same ability - long distance warping & Pass. God help us. …

This is the third time now that Chrom has had an alt that’s an infantry bow unit, and the previous two times, he absolutely Chrominated the metagame, before he picked up a lance for his Brave alt and became one of the most Chromplete packages of a unit to ever exist. Now, we are back to Chrom as an infantry bow, and he decided to Chrombine this with the Brave Chrom gimmick…

Analysis by @medhaos. Refine Roundup - Choose Your Legends edition! Remember Brave Felix and how godawful he was to deal with? Yeah, he’s getting refined next year. I sure can’t wait for it. Actually I can, because looking at these refines and how they’ll set the tone for next year’s Choose Your Legends refine batch, I expect that there’s only one unit who will actually get a meaningful refine.

Analysis by @medhaos. Legendary Diamant effectively combines traits of base Diamant along with traits of Ninja Diamant to make the ultimate Diamant. This means that Legendary Diamant truly live up to his class name - as the true Successeur of all the Diamants. Speaking of names, Fortified Axe actually has a name in Engage that for some reason they didn't use?

Fun story - I actually predicted Legendary Diamant would be the August Legendary, and it turns out that I was right. Well, that would've been the case if I predicted that we'd get him in August this year, because I predicted we'd get Legendary Diamant last year in August only for it to be Legendary Male Shez instead. I didn't even bother predicting the Legendary this year, and I half expected it to be Ivy.

Analysis by @medhaos. The OC Cleanup continues. This now only leaves Njörðr, Henriette, and to some extent Veronica and Gustav (although they’ve functionally been replaced their Legendary & Fallen counterparts respectively) as the only units to not have any “base form” playable in the game. This is nice. Also he’s free, which is really nice. Let’s see if he’s got the treatment he deserves.

Analysis by @medhaos. The siblings match! I have to say that I do like the fact that she won right after her brother. It seemed very in character for both of them that Alfonse would win, and then his voterbase would rally to get Sharena over the line. That was nice to see. I kinda want them to start using the Brave designs for the story mode tbh.

Analysis by @medhaos. Fire Emblem Heroes has this real knack for making units with mediocre outfits look stunning. The Academy uniform didn’t look particularly outstanding in game, but the art really does make this uniform pop out. But I’m just really glad that we finally got the Sublime Creator Sword in-game - now we just have to vote Male Corrin in CYL10 to finally get the Omega Yato.

Despite being arguably the safest possible design they could’ve gone for with this unit, I actually think it weirdly works for him - it seems logical that he’d be the leader of the Healing Hands after Læraðr dies, despite him thinking about training 24/7. Also, he’s the first beast unit to change movement type. Let’s see how well that works out for him.

Okay, so the last time I wrote about Baldr, I got slashed, knocked out and had to play dead whilst she wrote her own article and- *bang* …she has a gun. She has a gun, and she shot the table…Yeah, no, never mind enough, I’m not even getting paid for this. Screw that, I’m leaving. The mortal just left? I’m surprised, nonetheless *ahem* Take notice, Mortals!
