Right now, people experiencing homelessness need thermal underwear and wool socks to combat the bitter cold. This will help them layer more efficiently and trap needed warmth if they cannot get into a shelter or warming station.

I discovered two important truths as a social worker:
1. Trauma is not erasable.
2. Our power to heal is also not erasable.
The variable that exists between these two truths is the fundamental precept of harm reduction that we call "safety". In short:
No safety = no healing.
