True religion is right tempers toward God and man. It is, in two words, gratitude and benevolence: gratitude to our Creator and supreme Benefactor, and benevolence to our fellow creatures. In other words, it is the loving God with all our heart, and our neighbour as ourselves. - Wesley, O120, §16

A colleague told me yesterday that a PhD is more a measure of one’s perseverance than knowledge. While most days, I hope it means I’ve learned some things, today I’m hoping my colleague was right.

It is reported and mostly confirmed that John Wesley gave away more than £30,000 in his lifetime. £30,000 in 1780 is equivalent to more than £6.5 million today.

The difference in Doctoral and Master’s writing. My MA Thesis was 15,000 words. This chapter of my Doctorate is 15,000 words. It took me 6 months to write my MA. It’s taken me 3 weeks to write this chapter.
