CONCACAF W Champions Cup - Washington Spirit vs Rise Academy of Vancouver. Rise Academy did their best to pack 11 in their box at all times, but Spirit still up 3-0 at the half.

DC Power FC come back to share the points with Spokane Zephyr. 2-2
August 31, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Pet peeve about DC Power FC’s forwards - they check back straight to the ball. This makes them incredibly easy and predecible to defend against and makes it incredibly hard for their team to maintain possession. They are working very hard, but that needs to be better at the pro level.

Spokane equalize with a beautiful near post run and header. They definitely have a way they go about trying to score and that was a great example of how they do it. Another header - up 2-1 over DC now.

Spokane are good in the air. Playing with more of a sense of purpose.
August 30, 2025 at 11:48 PM
DC Power FC definitely have a bend but don’t break way of playing. Hard to score on…and the offense works best when they play direct. Up 1-0 on Zephyr FC.

Jagermeister Cup - Loudoun United hosting Sacramento Republic.

Coming back from Spirit vs Thorns - what I really missed about Rodman’s absence - that if she wants the ball on the wing she plays center forward so she can drift to the wing in the run of play and center backs HATE going with her. She ALWAYS finds ways to get open in key moments that way.

I’m a huge admirer of Spain, but this is the kind of game England seem to win. Good luck to both teams with the PKs.
July 27, 2025 at 6:35 PM
These missed chances for Spain aren’t free. If they make it to penalties, England just might win this.
July 27, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Substitutions earlier for England today - smart move. Game continues to be outstanding.
July 27, 2025 at 5:29 PM
Wow! England, with a great cross of their own, equalize. England seem to play their best after they have absorbed the other team’s best gut punch. As expected, this is a great game!
July 27, 2025 at 5:16 PM
I can’t believe how good the Spanish forwards are without the ball. Often much of the battle has already been won by the time the ball arrives. I don’t think England can wait till the end of the game to make substitutions. This Spanish team is too good for that.
July 27, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Wow! What an incredible cross to lead to that goal from Spain. Also, I am incredibly impressed by the precision of the work without the ball by the Spanish forwards. The subtlety is step by step - really fantastic.

Kudos to the Italians for a great run. This England team is formidable. They have a good system of play, they don’t panic when they absorb the other team’s best shot and they know they can score in pressure cooker moments. The final, whoever plays in it, will be incredibly competitive.
July 22, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Again, I like the Italians, but that equalizer for England was very fair.
July 22, 2025 at 8:54 PM
The yellow card for time wasting has worked for Italy as they are refocused on playing. They have a much better chance of getting the result this way.
July 22, 2025 at 8:44 PM
I like what the Italians have accomplished this tournament, but for crying out loud, act like you have protected a lead before. You don’t descend into faking injury every play with 30 minutes left.

Congratulations are in order to the Annapolis Blues for hosting 12,853 fans on Saturday for their men’s/women’s doubleheader in which both (undefeated) teams won. I had long hoped for a women’s team and they did not disappoint.

Annapolis Blues beat Christos 2-0 in USL 2
May 31, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Top USL home opening men’s/women’s double header for the Annapolis Blues against excellent teams in both games. The crowd may be as high as 10,000. Christos impressed me in the 1st half of the men’s game.

DC gets their second goal. The difference between the two teams is quality in front of the goal - it is that simple. Charleston have a lot of good pieces, but they simply must be better in front of the goal than they were tonight.
May 7, 2025 at 1:20 AM
Very well deserved finish by DC United. Charleston have been poor in front of the goal all night. This is what happens when you aren’t clinical. I am not a huge MLS or DC United fan, but this is well deserved.
