Cuts to NSF expected to be at 50% reduction in force for an independent agency that fuels discovery and innovation.

"The NSF budget was $9B, or 0.13% of the total [budget]."

This is not about fiscal prudence. This is about killing universities.

This is also what makes digital media research so difficult; as platforms evolve and users migrate, research gets out of date quickly.

It’s always a fight against the clock to publish relevant studies

As an internet old who has watched countless social platforms, chat systems, and BBSes (!) rise and fall, I'm flummoxed by the current hot take that "nothing has or will come along to replace what Twitter once was." Um, hello? Social networks are always ephemeral, online and off. Join a new one!

Mask bans also fuel the incorrect notion that “only the vulnerable” need to worry about covid and long covid.

Covid is a threat to everyone. Long covid can and does impact young & healthy people.

Everyone needs the legal right to protect their health and the health of others.
You do not want to have to disclose all your medical conditions just for the right to keep yourself safe. And Long Covid is a risk for everyone. You also do not want the moral injury of having to expose others to a virus that can kill or disable them.
