In honor of MLK Day, we hosted tour of our Hunger Museum that explored the civil rights movement's fight against hunger.

The tour examines how the activism of the 60s and 70s reframed access to food as fundamental to racial and gender equality.

Can you eat on $6 a day?

Secretary Rollins recently said: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing."

You can help us run our own simulations using the SNAP Cafe in our virtual Hunger Museum.

Last year, the Republican majority passed a budget bill which increases state costs for SNAP by millions and even billions of dollars.

State and local officials are begging Congress to give them the additional time they need to implement the new law and help struggling families.

Until 2025, the very idea of our federal government weaponizing food assistance to punish political enemies was completely unthinkable and something out of a dystopian novel.

Now, we’ve seen the Trump administration take that step multiple times over the course of several months.

We are devastated by the hateful attack against Beth Israel Congregation and stand by the Jackson community. As the only synagogue in Jackson and home to our friends and partners at the Institute for Southern Jewish Life, Beth Israel is an integral part of the community.

This year has already been so heavy. Our communities are carrying so much right now.

It's okay to feel overwhelmed. It's okay to need a break. That's exactly why we have Shabbat.

We can't fight for systemic change without you. Take care of yourself for the weeks ahead.

Shabbat shalom!

Jews know all too well the pain of being considered a public charge, as European Jews were subject to these policies during the rise of the Nazi Party through World War II.

Seen as an “economic burden,” many Jews were barred entry into the U.S.
