Sounds so lovely! I would love to visit it too. But I think I can’t have it all…

Great! I love Hawes! Always worth a visit. Enjoy your time there and please post some photos🙂

We will! We’ve already booked our summer vacation in the Yorkshire Dales. We’ll be staying in Askrigg, where the veterinary practice from the old series is located. Well, at least the facade of Skeldale House was filmed there, the rest was shot in the studio.

Yorkshire (at least the parts I visited) truly has my whole heart!😍

Oh yes, Thirsk. As big fans of the series (both the old and the new), we visited Thirsk and the museum many years ago, then explored the Yorkshire Dales, and have been returning regularly ever since. For me, it’s the most beautiful landscape. I feel more at home there than in my own country🥹

It’s magical! I really recommend a visit. But don’t go on weekends or during school holidays. It’s just too crowded, and you might not even find a free table in a restaurant or tearoom. We loved our daily evening walks when there was hardly anyone around.

I would’ve preferred a more traditional adaptation, but at least it’s bringing new attention to the story. Haworth may benefit, even if it’s already quite crowded at times. I love it anyway. We had the most wonderful time there last Christmas😍

Thank you, David! That’s really kind of you. I’m still a bit undecided about whether I should watch the film. From what I’ve seen and heard so far, I’m not entirely convinced…

Yes, I’m German.
I seem to know English poets better than German ones these days, although I still have a lot to learn. I’m very impressed that you know Goethe and Heine so well! 😌📖

That’s wonderful! 🩷
I found the Brontës rather late, and English isn’t my first language, but I love reading them in the original. I’m also very grateful that I could visit the places and surroundings where they lived. This all means a lot to me.

I have dreamt in my life, dreams
that have stayed with me ever after,
and changed my ideas;
they have gone through and through me,
like wine through water,
and altered the colour of my mind

The snow is melting and it’s grey and foggy today. So here’s a photo from a nicer day in January to wish you a lovely weekend 🤍
