the suit - I much prefer a physical suit over something she 'summons', but I also like the Chozo tech feeling very advance. The way I am currently thinking of it is that it is something she *can* remove piece-by-piece, but can also 'phase' into it if she chooses to

Yep! I liked the idea that the Chozo engrave aspects of their culture onto their armor/clothing.
Samus' base Power Suit has its own message that says something like "this is our daughter, please protect her"

Not to summon this into existence, but InFamous would have been a good choice for a BR or MOBA style game. Caters to it well with the powers, factions, aesthetics, lore, etc.
And you could set it in the 'Evil Ending' timeline if you wanted to preserve canon.
