I live in Portland and we're fine here. The George Floyd protests/clashes with Feds in 2020 were in a 2 square block radius downtown. The ICE building is a ways outside of downtown and protests get no exposure here. Feds using teargas and violence on nonviolent protesters. Don't buy into their lies.

'Saving Private Ryan' 1998. Just finished Peace Corps training in Ecuador. We went to Quito to see it. First and only time I sobbed in a theater. In shock that day, still thinking about it weeks after. Remember history or be doomed to repeat it.

I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky
Just received an email saying that it's not advisable to include the following words in future applications for research funding to the US DOT. Here we are.
