Co-Director, of Museum of Homelessness. Still working out what I’m posting about.
It’s been #Disinfo2025 this week. I couldn’t go but always interested in this subject especially as so much cr*p gets spread about the homeless community. Latest one being the AI homeless prank going round on Luna & Sora. The kids aren’t alright folks. This is bad sh*t weareluna.app/parents/guid...

I’m asked about climate change & homelessness every now and then due to our work on homelessness & severe weather emergency protocol.

This is the backdrop & why we list climate change, disinformation & wealth extraction as the focus of our campaigning.
This report is disingenuous and dangerously misleading

Astonishingly, it even suggests that adapting to 4C 'will not be costly' 😮

The reality is organised adaption to 4C is impossible

The world will 'adapt' to 4C via economic and societal collapse

The end of a long week, much to say & so many ppl have made it poss for our community to come together & mourn ppl we’ve lost.

This is one of our candles on the railings @ St Martins - a kind of MoH calling card - but for me also a reminder of what it means to take space for what is most important.

Our first community Tuesday 2 years ago, done 100 since and the museum feels very different in some ways, familiar in others. Here’s to 100 more.

Today we release the 2024 findings for the Dying Homeless Project. It’s something I work on year round with an amazing team.

This year we saw a 9% increase but so much more than nos. These are human stories that never be forgotten 💔

Our investigation finds that 1611 people experiencing homelessness died in 2024 - a 9% increase on the previous year. — Museum of Homelessness
We are devastated to share our latest research into the deaths of those who die. It has revealed the continued impact at the sharpest edge of the homelessness crisis, as the Labour Government has fail...

This is terrible so sad to see this.
Men in balaclavas set fire to a mosque in East Sussex last night. It's only appearing on the BBC's local coverage, rather than its main national headlines, despite coming just a week after the (also under-reported) firebombing of an asylum hotel in London last week

Video appears to show two people in balaclavas at the mosque before a large blaze spreads.

Great to be quoted with this, it’s a really good piece of work by Josh Gabbatiss over at Carbon Brief! We’ll worth a look.
🗞 @mattturtle.bsky.social co-director of the Museum of Homelessness, said that SWEP should be made a legal requirement to protect rough sleepers.

Turtle said: “These findings, like our own research, show that many councils opt not to help people who need it the most when there is extreme weather…
Homeless people were protected from hot weather on a record number of occasions in 2025 as climate change led to hottest summer ever.

Always find this mind boggling, City Hall, the symbol of London’s governance being dismantled. Easy to do as it’s apparently owned by the Kuwaiti Sovereign Wealth fund and Greater London Authority was turfed out long ago…

So our vigil is next week, one of the hardest days of the year for those in our community as we gather to remember those we’ve lost museumofhomelessness.org/news/annual-...

This thread says it all. Thank you!

The EHRC has long been toothless, corrupt & hollowed out and is stoking more hate and disinformation.

It saddens me so much to see how much suffering this is causing & how much people are being hoodwinked by the horrific forces re-shaping put politics.

Previously, the arrests of pro-Palestinian voices on university campuses would’ve drawn instant attention from the DHS civil rights office’s First Amendment watchdogs, attorneys in the compliance branch said. That guardrail is gone.

Been reading this recently. It stuns me to read this week that Jack Thorne got stopped by a headteacher saying “I want to know what more schools can do” after watching Adolescence.

The affects of disinfo are so far reaching (this was published in 2020!) we need whole subjects devoted to it.

An honour to see this. A moment not to be forgotten ❤️❤️❤️
Landmark exhibition - Transcestry - celebrates 10 incredible years of the Museum of Transology. Who could have known a decade ago - when the first objects were collected - how much we would need this 1000 object manifestation of trans joy and resilience in 2025. Unmissable. ❤️❤️❤️

Been interested in noting the Zelenskyy “election mandate” stuff & been hearing it alot more. I now get why. Part of coordinated Kremlin disinfo so expect to hear it from western sympathisers more. This one is a good read for people looking ahead re Ukraine Russia euvsdisinfo.eu/the-kremlins...

I’ll repeat
On Ukraine I’m guessing it’ll be the following:
1. Peace deal designed to put Ukraine in a position where it can’t ever accept
2. Ukraine then made out to be “aggressor” by US/Russia.
3. War continues - with Ukraine to blame.
4. US uses breakdown to continue to castigate Europe/NATO

This was a very important discussion. Hope we can do more together on this. ❤️
Thanks to @happymuseum.bsky.social for inviting NMDC to join the conversation around ethical use of social media. It was great to talk with @themerl.bsky.social and @ourmoh.bsky.social and sector colleagues today. Lots of inspiration from museums in our sector.
Coming up this Thursday - join us in an open conversation exploring ethical use of social media for museums.

Feels more relevant and urgent by the day....
