It was fun while it lasted, TikTok. But the U.S. centralizing and retraining the algorithm based on mysterious U.S.-only criteria seems sketchy as hell. I'm rooting even more for @skylight.social to capture that drive for us scrollers to get that vertical video fix.

If you're a music streaming nerd who's ready to try and quit Apple/YouTube/Spotify ecosystem, try Qobuz. Audio quality is CD-level or better. Only music (no video). Has that 'connect' sync that Spotify does well. Easy transfer of playlists. Pays artists fairly. Name is silly but App is a joy.

Why don't congressional district maps align with counties/ parishes/ boroughs? We have an actual map of these already established www.mapchart.net/usa-counties...

Mixed feelings about reboots but that new Naked Gun movie was great. Liam Neeson's deadpan is fantastic. Pamela Anderson sings. So many jokes. All so dumb and silly and fun but man it was just the thing. I laughed a lot.

Old manning: For almost a week in my right ear I have been experiencing what sounds like the snap, crackle, pop of a bowl of rice krispies played through a transistor radio next to a bag of microwaved popcorn. (and yes, doc's been involved but no relief yet). Is this what going to a concert is now?

An appreciation post for @beeper.com, which has tamed the madness of having 7,000 different messaging apps. Automattic for the people.

A fun generational divide thing: Gen-Z/Alpha had cheap school Chromebooks and their parents have iPhones, so they know Google and Apple just fine. But in corporate life they'll likely use products like Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel with basically no prior Microsoft-ing like us X/Yers.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

New Music Friday: Listening to Ben Kweller's excellent and heart-wrenching new record, 'Cover The Mirrors'. Grappling with the grief of his teenage son's death, examining his life. All heavy but beautifully approached. #newmusic 🎧https://album.link/r76xb5nfndjbk

Listening to this beautiful piano instrumental record by Dan Wilson, accomplished songwriter for the stars & Semisonic troubadour. Quiet, meditative, melodic, understated. The 100-year-old+ upright piano pronounces every click, every sustain pedal press. Lovely record. 🎧 album.link/hstf644n86vt2

Sadly, this show was cancelled / postponed by the venue. We're working out a new date.
I'm really looking forward to playing a show next Friday May 9 over at Progression in Northampton, MA . It's been awhile. Looking like we'll have a full band for this one. #westernmassmusic

I spent this past weekend recording with The Documents up in Goshen, MA in an old barn converted to a studio. This new record of ours is going to sound so good.

Now if I can just figure out how to use my watch as a camera remote and a timer... #westernmass #music

MapQuest's Bluesky Feed is A++
Colbert once lovingly roasted us with a “live feed” of MapQuest HQ: Our Chief Nostalgia Officer. Unconscious, lit by the glow of Windows 98.
And honestly? Still outperforming Congress.

#westernmass music update: My band The Documents will open for The Lucky Shots at Progression in Northampton, MA on May 9th. We've been working on a new record for a number of months (and headed back into our old barn/studio this weekend even). Let's see if a crowd likes these forlorn piano ballads.

A song on shuffle that found me today: @anidifranco.bsky.social's "Your Next Bold Move" (2001), evoking that feeling of helplessness about making good decisions and trying to stick to your values in the midst of bleak, massive-scale capitalism.
